Body skin laxity: tightening without surgery

Mild to moderate skin laxity on the abdomen, arms and thighs improves with radiofrequency that heats the skin in depth and stimulates new collagen: Venus Legacy in a programme or Volnewmer in one session, with LPG for toning, at Essentia in Thessaloniki.

What is it and why does it appear?

Body skin loosens for four reasons: age reduces collagen and elastin; weight loss leaves the skin 'bigger' than the tissue it covers; pregnancy stretches the abdomen for months; and genes decide how fast it recovers. The result is loose skin on the abdomen, the inner thighs and arms, above the knees. As long as the skin still has elasticity, controlled heating of the dermis with radiofrequency contracts the collagen fibres and produces new collagen over the following weeks, with measurable tightening [1]. Mechanical stimulation (LPG) tones and smooths, and muscle toning (EMSculpt Neo) fills from below. When there is real excess skin, as after major weight loss, no device removes it: there the answer is surgical.

How we treat it

We choose by area and degree: Venus Legacy for a gradual programme with no sensation of heat, Volnewmer for strong tightening in one session on smaller areas (inner arms, above the knees, superficial abdominal laxity), LPG for toning and EMSculpt Neo when muscle tone is lacking too. We do not combine Volnewmer and Venus Legacy on the same area.

What to expect

Before and after: with Venus Legacy the first difference shows after the 3rd session and builds to the 10th; with Volnewmer part of the tightening shows immediately and the full result at 3 months. The aim is firmer, smoother skin that 'follows' the body, not removal of excess skin. It lasts months to more than a year, with maintenance.

Tips

  • Stable weight: every new swing loosens the skin again
  • Strength training, which fills the skin from below
  • Sunscreen and moisturiser on exposed areas
  • No smoking

Frequently asked questions

When after pregnancy?

After breastfeeding, once the weight has stabilised. If there is abdominal muscle separation, a medical assessment first.

Which device suits me?

We decide at the assessment, by area, degree of laxity and the time you have.

Does abdominal tightening with a device work?

In mild to moderate laxity yes, measurably. With excess skin after major weight loss, no; there the solution is abdominoplasty.

Loose skin after dieting: what do I do?

First stabilise the weight for 2–3 months, then an assessment: radiofrequency if the skin has elasticity, surgical assessment if there is excess.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the treatments, areas and number of sessions. Add what interests you to your plan and the proposal with prices comes to you on WhatsApp, with no obligation.
