What is it and why does it appear?
A stretch mark is a scar inside the dermis: when the skin stretches faster than it can grow, the collagen and elastin fibres break and the gap fills with abnormal tissue. It happens in pregnancy, adolescence, rapid weight gain or loss, muscle growth and with cortisone. Recent stretch marks are red or purple (striae rubrae), because they still have inflammation and vessels; they respond best. Old ones are white or silvery (striae albae), atrophic, and improve more slowly. Microneedling opens controlled micro-channels inside the stretch mark and triggers new, organised collagen, which 'fills' it and makes it narrower and closer to the colour of the surrounding skin [1]. Intracel adds heat in depth for the widest ones, and carboxytherapy improves circulation and tone. The aim is visible improvement, not removal.
Types
- Red/purple (recent): with inflammation and vessels; respond best
- White/silvery (old): atrophic; improve more slowly, need more sessions
How we treat it
Dermapen 4 as the base, 4–6 sessions every 6 weeks, with exosomes for stronger remodelling. Intracel for wide or deep stretch marks. Carboxytherapy in between, for texture and colour. We start as early as possible, while the marks are still red; in pregnancy we wait for the birth and breastfeeding.
Recommended signature combo
ComboMicroneedling with exosomes to rebuild the skin, and an infrared mask for faster recovery.
What to expect
Before and after: the stretch marks become narrower, smoother and closer to the skin colour gradually, from the 2nd–3rd session, with the full result 3–6 months after the programme. Red ones improve more and faster than white ones. The improvement is lasting. Before-and-after photos are shown at the assessment, with the consent of the people who shared them.
Tips
- Start early, while the marks are red
- Moisturiser and sunscreen on the area; the sun makes stretch marks more visible
- Stable weight and gradual muscle growth
- In pregnancy: moisturise twice a day, and treat after breastfeeding
Frequently asked questions
Do stretch marks go for good?
The aim is improvement, not removal. They become narrower, smoother and less visible, permanently.
White stretch marks: is there a treatment?
Yes, but slower: they usually need more Dermapen or Intracel sessions, and the improvement is mainly in texture and width.
In pregnancy?
No. Treatments are done after the birth and breastfeeding; during pregnancy daily moisturising helps.
Dermapen or Intracel for stretch marks?
Dermapen 4 for most, with minimal downtime; Intracel for wide, deep or white stretch marks, with 3–5 days of redness.
