DeviceHand rejuvenation: wrinkles and spots on the hands
Hands show age because of thin skin, sun and spots; their skin becomes denser, smoother and more even with Dermapen 4 microneedling and carboxytherapy, without injections, at Essentia in Thessaloniki.

What is it and why does it appear?
The back of the hand has some of the thinnest skin on the body, with almost no fat underneath, and gets sun, water and detergents every day, usually without sunscreen. Over the years the skin thins further and 'crinkles', sun spots appear and the veins and tendons show. Two things improve without injections: skin quality, with microneedling that thickens the dermis with new collagen [1], and tone, with carboxytherapy and sunscreen that reduce and prevent spots. Volume loss, which makes the veins more visible, is a medical matter, at the practice.
How we treat it
Dermapen 4 on the back of the hands, 3–4 sessions every 4–6 weeks, for thickening of the skin and balancing of the spots. Carboxytherapy in between, for tone and glow. Sunscreen and moisturiser after every wash, so it lasts.
Device
DeviceWhat to expect
Before and after: the skin of the hands becomes smoother and the spots lighter within 2–3 months of starting, with the full result 2–3 months after the last session. The improvement in texture is lasting; the spots stay away as long as the sunscreen does.
Tips
- Sunscreen on the hands every morning, and in the car
- Moisturiser after every wash
- Gloves for housework
- Vitamin C and retinol: whatever is left over from the face, on the hands
Frequently asked questions
Do the spots on the hands go?

Does it hurt on the hands?
A light prickle, with numbing cream if you want it. The hands are pink for a few hours.
My veins show: does it help?
